Protective styles for summer

It's HOT outside.

I don't think I need to expand on that. lol.

I have worn my hair up for up to a week in the two styles below.  Both use two strand twists (vs braids) on wet hair.  Both took 30 min to do or less.

Style One is just a single two strand twist, flat twisted around my whole head. Quickly and without a mirror before traveling. A variation of the princess braid. One day I tucked the end in, the next few I took the end out and put it in a low pony.

Style Two is composed of mega big (unparted) double stands- with 7 flat twists in front- the 2 on each side go backwards and the 3 in the middle go forward and are then looped back to make a hump.  The loose twists in back are cornrowed together upwards and then the end of the "cornrow of twists" is tucked under and pinned.  These picts are of day 3! I added the headband to disguise some of the fuzzys. Hope it makes sense in the picts!

I sleep on a silk pillow case (love!! get you one!) and have done little else to preserve it- hence the fuzzies!

High Puff - 5 days

I washed my hair this past Saturday and wore it out and stretched for the day.  and as of this morning I had not wet it or detangled since O_O

Again, I used some old product hiding in the dark of my pantry- Garnier's Pure Clean gel. It promises no flakes, no build up.  Lies.  It has a decent hold, not extra strong as they claim, and it also has a funny smell.  The texture seems so promising though- like a serum.  But alas, it just dries... normal.  And that's all I have to say about that.

But Sunday I put it up in a high puff. And there it sat until this morning.  And when I say there it sat... I mean I did not take it down.  I literally pineappled my hair that night- woke up and it looked good like that so I left it. lol. I slept on it (silk pillow cases mmmm), woke up, got in the shower, smoothed the damp edges with my hands and went. day after day lol.  But I took these pictures last night- on the 5th day. Aside from tangles beginning to form, and some product flakes, it looked quite alright.

But WHEN did this happen??   I am back at arm pit length already O_O  Proof that it will grow back! I am not yet overwhelmed by it and the shape is good so I will let it grow for now.  I plan to press it (myself) again in mid-late May and do a very small trim. My ends are quite alright at the moment in fact.  Not many knots at all ~11 weeks post trim.

Length updates

It's still Growing!

Now that the summer is done I have had to trim the knots of the ends (yes I still get those suckers!!) and I plan to get back into protective and "dry" styles far more often.
I trimmed it last week- a good inch all around, but you can't really tell.  Here it is before I trimmed it.

This is after I took that weave pony tail out and it was all mostly straight from being gelled back so enthusiastically lol.   It looks almost like a blowout, maybe even straighter than that in the very front.

Here it is on a random work day. I had used the Shea moisture line here, including the Souffle(which must be new and I can't find a link for! but check The Good Hair Blog's review) and curl smoothie. The Souffle is VERY intersting and a review is forthcoming. I'm not sure how to use it yet, but I like it in theory (weird I know). It is greasy and not best suited for my wash and goes. I got it at Walgreens if you can find it.
