I have been overjoyed with my hair and can hardly contain my excitement to try styles at this new length. Right now I can't seem to let go of the wash n go, however, because it's just sooo easy! With different amounts of gel and leave in I get different effects and detangling is a breeze so I can refresh it more often than before. Even with just some more water and leave in I can work back through my hair and detangle.
There are a few spots of bright highlights that I like to be under some darker hair, so I do a little finicking in the front and top. Otherwise, I feel like it's growing out already! I think I'd like to keep it this length at least for this summer. I know it will grow fast.
Hmm what else? I can still catch a good low ponytail, or wear a pony n bangs, which I've been doing on the weekends while working on the house. Hence the lack of updates. I'm finding my weekend play time greatly diminished lately!
So far the products I'm trying to stick to are suave professionals and naturals for cowashing, Zuresh foaming cleanser as shampoo, Paul Mitchel The Conditioner as leave in, IC or Eco styler for my gel, and castor oil or natures gate pomade as my oil/sealant. I am debating working Shea butter and Aloe back in, and planning to do a flax seed gel batch soon. And a set of twists. And a roller set... Sigh... Lol.
beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks great. i never liked wash n gos before, but now that I've sort of figured them out that's all I've been doing.
ReplyDeleteI am adoring this cut. It's so flattering. I do have a question though -- do you *coax* your hair forward or does it fall that way naturally?
ReplyDelete@ Shones- OMG- My hair naturally falls this way, and I always loathed having to fight it back. I posted about this here: http://www.itsjusthair.com/2009/09/its-just-my-hair.html and how I fight it and fight it, and FIGHT IT... I cut the bang for some relief. And now I have this cut that works with it. I think that is a HUGE part of why I'm so very sold on this cut.
ReplyDeleteI love this cut sis! It frames your face perfectly
ReplyDeleteYes there's no doubt about it, you have gorgeous hair and that cut is AWESOME!
ReplyDeletei love your new cut!
ReplyDeleteThere you go again!! Flaunting this gorgeousness before me! Stop it!!! LOL..but no seriously..everytime I see your hair in this cut I'm in awe..and for some reason it makes those highlights pop like 20 billion times more.

omg my goodness. your hair is amazing! those outside pictures are stunning.
ReplyDeleteHey this is the random girl from the train! Your hair is amazing!!!!!! And I am definitely trying the wonder curl!! I have spread the word about your blog (I hope you don't mind)! Do you have any tips for growing out natural hair? Even though our curl pattern is different, I will take whatever advice you have to give. My hair stops at the top of my back, and no matter what I do it wont grow past that length. :( Its actually super damaged right now. So I think I will be doing protective styles until December! Sorry about the long comment!
ReplyDeletethanks everyone. its already growing back out! Summer growth is crazy.
ReplyDelete@ anonymous from the train (lol) Thanks for spreading the word! The thing that really helped my hair retain growth early on was WATER. When I learned to use conditioner in wet hair to detangle (often! 3x week), I saw a huge difference in the texture and strength. My dry hair is very fragile and tangles and knots, so working with it dry just stresses & creates more weak points (unless it has dried in a detangled/stretched state) I re-wet my hair before I or comb it or begin any new style (fingers or wide tooth comb). I almost never brush or pick it out, nor use heat.
Im thinking of setting up an appointment with Beth (if I can!) or Diane next week at Fiddleheads before I move out of DC *tears*. I was wondering if they cut your hair while dry before hand, or after the wash or both! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Talisa. I saw Beth and she cut my hair dry. I styled it the way I would "normally" wear my curls beforehand so that she would have a canvas to work off of. She cut it just like that. Then rinsed, conditioned, finger detangled and then got a few stragglers as we both went through it with our fingers while wet. I was showing her how I rake my product through (unlike a "curly girl") as we sought out any longer pieces that were left. It wasn't until it dried, however, that I saw the ingenious shape she created that I would never have thought of.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the reply!! I just made my appointment with Diana on Tuesday :-) Ive never had a dry cut before but from your desription and pictures im sure it will be great. Thanks for having such a great blog!
